The Galveston College Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society celebrated the induction of 54 new students during the PTK Dinner and Induction Ceremony on April 13 at the college’s Abe & Annie Seibel Wing.

With the induction of the 54 students, GC’s PTK chapter membership increased to 121 members. The college’s fast-growing PTK chapter moved from a one-star chapter in 2021 to a five-star chapter within a year and a half.

“I am proud to be involved with the PTK chapter at Galveston College and our student members,” said GC PTK Advisor Regina Durante, Ph.D. “Our chapter has grown quickly and many students join because of the numerous benefits PTK offers such as scholarships, leadership opportunities, training, career building and development.”

In addition to the induction of the new PTK members, the organization swore in PTK President Miranda Donaldson and PTK Vice President Jacqueline Mitchell.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve as President of the Sigma Gamma chapter of PTK,” said Donaldson. “I am looking forward to working with our amazing members and advisors alongside our chapter’s incredible Vice President, Jacqueline Mitchell. I know we’ll do great things together and I am excited to come into my role as a leader in PTK.

“PTK has opened many doors for me, offering countless possibilities for the future,” she added. “PTK has helped expand my community while at Galveston College, connecting me with a support network of like-minded, driven students who are always willing to lend a helping hand.”

As the PTK has grown at GC, the organization has established a Scholarship Night, initiated PTK Edge Completion Night and started their Honors in Action research program.
