Hurricane Preparedness

The hurricane season in Texas begins June 1 and ends November 30. Galveston College’s Emergency Management Command Staff keeps the college community up to date on developing and approaching storms. Information on the current campus emergency level, closings and re-openings, hurricane preparedness tips and links to the National Weather Service’s National Hurricane Center are also listed.

Announcements and updates prior to, during, and after a storm will be sent to all students, faculty and staff from the Emergency Management Command Staff. Inclement weather information and updates will also be posted on the GC’s website and social media channels.

3 – Assemble disaster supplies.

4 – Get an insurance checkup and document your possessions.

5 – Strengthen your home.

6 – Help your neighbor.

7 – Create a communication plan.
